Clinton at a Glance
Originally settled in the 1860s during the Cariboo Gold Rush, the town of Clinton
is a lively and exciting place offering a host of historical and outdoor activities.
The Clinton
Museum enlightens visitors on life during the gold rush and provides a historic
walking tour guide book which highlights buildings from the period, such as
the Pollard House and the Blue
Goose Hotel, that still stand today. After the gold rush ranching became
a major industry and guest ranches in the area, including the Echo
Valley Ranch and Spa and the Circle
H Mountain Lodge, allow city-folk to experience life on the range. Clinton
is also a haven for outdoor lovers with no fewer than five provincial parks,
including Downing
and Big
Bar Lake, offering activities such as canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing
and horseback riding. These activities and a number of local events like the
Annual
Ball and the Country
Jamboree, make Clinton an exciting year-round vacation destination.
